Baby Caterpillar

Thursday, April 30, 2015
Connor started pulling himself forward just yesterday. He could scoot but not really purposefully. Then last night he figured out he could actually get somewhere or something. Already just since yesterday it has turned from an awkward bum in the air thing to more army crawling. It still takes him a while to get anywhere but we have a mover!

7 Months Old

Hum.. Didn't I just write a month update post! Wow time flies!

So far the beginning of month seven has been a little hard on our little boy! It started with TWO teeth coming in over the last few days, six month shots on monday, audiology appointment on tuesday and then 4 vials of blood drawn on wednesday.

These teeth have not been fun for any of us and I swear they only grow at night. He has been mostly happy until bed time. Then he is horrible but you all know about that. The teeth are still just coming up so you can't really see them from the front but you can definitely feel them. I have not been bitten yet but Connor wants to turn me into his personal pacifier. He spends a lot longer just sucking on my boob when he is done eating.
For Connor's doctor appointment I told my doctor that our goal for coming was to either find something to change, find someone to see or test something. He didn't have much to suggest and the closest allergist is in Anchorage, Alaska so we went with doing a blood test. After his apportionment he got his 6 month shots. Two day later we went down to the big hospital to get his blood drawn. I was surprised they took it just like they do for an adult. Logan came for moral support and so I held Connor and Logan fed him little cereals to keep him distracted. Connor did so well! He cried when they poked him but not much considering. Based on how much blood was drawn I was surprised how it didn't seem to have any lasting affect on him at all.

Tuesday his audiology test went great! He acted perfect the whole time. They did a test where they talked out of speakers to either side and saw if he would turn towards the sound. Connor turned the right direction every time. Then they did the same test we had done the last 3 appointments and it worked the first time for both ears!!! In the past we have tried on the right ear for over an hour without passing. Yay! Connor has been passed with at least normal range hearing. After that appointment we went to visit his Dad at work. Logan loves showing off his little boy!

Time for some stats! Connor weighed in at 16 pounds 8 oz (34%) and 26.5 inches (55%) tall. He is tall for his weight and has a very small head. I think that is why he looks more like a kid than baby. Most babies have huge heads and then are relatively fat for their height. I think he looks perfectly adorable!
Connor is starting to scoot around on the floor to get to things he wants, he loves standing against the couch and bouncing in the bouncer. I put him in his crib the other day to do something and he started using the rail to walk across the front. While he is starting to be very particular to me, he will still let others hold him and is starting to love his daddy too. He is also starting to be very affectionate to me. I get hugs when I lift him out of bed in the morning and sometimes he just likes to grab my face and give me kisses! Getting him to smile is as easy as just smiling and talking to him.

He is getting easier and easier to go and do things during the day - especially in his car seat! When I put him in it now he likes to look out the window and easily falls asleep. It is crazy! He almost never feel asleep in his last one. I also love that if he does start to get fussy I can always fix it by handing or popping some food in his mouth.

He loves food. All food! His favorite are vegetables.

He is a great sitter now. He can bend over to pick up toys and then sit back up again. With these sitting skills we have finally moved him to baths in the regular tub. We will miss his sink baths. I hope he takes to this as well and learns to splash with his hands. So far he has been very quiet and observant.
Connor loves going upside-down and swinging into the air. I thought he was over the stair thing but he still gets a little scared sometimes. As you can see in the pics, he is getting more and more hair every day although he still looks bald to most people. People say he has a perfectly shaped head though at least. Pretty much every stranger agrees he is just the cutest thing.

I love how ticklish he is! His giggles are the best. He also started talking again lately. It is so cute how he says na da da da.

I think he is going to be right handed already. When he eats if he picks something up with his left hand he usually switches it over to his right to eat. He also uses his right hand to smack toys around. I think it is the arm that wakes him up at night flailing and he likes to repeatedly hit me with it while he is nursing on that side.

Here are our seven month photos! He is just the best sometimes and was even showing off some new tricks for you all!
 Pretty baby eyes.
 See, he has some hair!
Look at how strong those little legs are! His bum is resting on the couch but he is standing by himself. In the second pic, I love how his hands always go to his mouth when he is up side down.
He just loves the arm rest.
I put him on his knees for the picture but he is starting to get them up by himself.

Bouncer

Monday, April 27, 2015
We are currently borrowing this bouncer from some friends. As you can see Connor is a fan! He has also started being so chatty lately. I love it!

Children's Day Koinobori

Sunday, April 26, 2015
It ended up being a overcast/sprinkly day but I really wanted to get out. Connor is grumpy from getting his first tooth but he is always happier when we get out and there is more to distract him. We went to the Hija river to see the Koinobori (Carp kites). They raise them all over the island for Children's day. See this and this for short little explanations about the holiday.

Rough Day

Saturday, April 25, 2015
So part of Connor's first tooth broke through today. Let me tell you, it is sharp! I can definitely feel it better then you can see it right now. Poor baby! Teething is no fun! He can't sleep and it has made him pretty moody.
To top it all off, I gave him some french toast for dinner. He has had eggs and bread before but I guess allergies usually show up on the second or third time. My baby led weaning book just keeps saying how that is a great meal for little ones but I guess not.
This was his face after a few minutes - the left side almost looked like it was getting a welt. I took what he had away right as soon as I noticed and wiped him completely down. He was still pretty happy through the rest of dinner but about a half hour later he started acting fussy and tired. We thought he must be ready for bed and got up to give him a bath and thats when he started vomiting everything he had eaten in the last hour.
Oh man. I felt so bad. If teething wasn't bad enough I gave him something that he is allergic to. I feel so bad. He was really pale but in good spirits for bath and bed time, nursed normally a little while later and was able to fall asleep just fine. I guess the good news is that he got it all out of his system and his face had already cleared up by the time he threw up. I'm going to watch him really well tonight and hold off on eggs and wheat for awhile. We already had a doctor appointment set up for Monday so at least I will have lots to talk to his doctor about.

9 month clothes

Connor just went through another growth spurt. He weighed in at over 17 pounds the other day! My arms will get used to it but it sure makes extended time carrying him around a workout. I can hardly pick him up out of his crib!
It is so strange how one day, all the sudden, his diapers don't fit and he is wearing 9 month clothes like it's no big deal. How does it happen so fast!
Part of me loves all the milestones and how he gets more fun each month. The other part of me keeps yelling "Stop growing up so fast and stay my little baby forever!"

Cutie

Sometimes when it is beautiful outside you need to have a little impromptu photo shoot. I took these Friday afternoon.

Tooth???

Thursday, April 23, 2015
Ok so Logan said he didn't see anything last night but I think we have a tooth coming in our near future! It would explain why he hasn't been sleeping well and his mysterious cold symptoms that seem to come and go.

Look!
 Look closer!!
Do you see the two little dots? They are not a light reflections. I guess we will know in a few days.

Churaumi Aquarium

Look! I made it out of the house today! And the most impressive part is that it was an hour and a half drive but Connor was so good! Like, the whole time! On the drive back he got a little fussy when I had to stop at the lights but thanks to his new car seat, I can reach back and pop a little cereal treat in his mouth and then he is good again. Once I got on the Expressway, he slept almost until we were home. The new car seat was worth every penny!

5 Year Anna-versary

Wednesday, April 22, 2015
We hired a babysitter for the first time tonight! Well actually it was a sister from the ward. Her kids are teenagers but she LOVES babies so I knew even if Connor was unhappy she could give him her full attention and love him no matter what.
Last year I was super sick so we didn't go anywhere fancy. This year I can't have several food groups because I'm nursing so Logan took me to a Korean place where we figured I could eat most of what was on the menu.
It was pretty cool. You get your own little personal room and grill that you can cook the food you order from the computer. It is a fun version of an all you can eat buffet.
Yay meat! It was really good and we had fun trying lots of different things. Don't worry we also ate some veggies too.
This may be silly but honestly my favorite part was that Connor was so good for Alli while we were gone and he got so excited to see me when we picked him up!

This Baby Loves Swings

Sunday, April 19, 2015
On Saturday we went to this park just to find a baby swing for Connor. He had a great time! I loved so many pictures I got - some for the sweet pure joy and others for his crazy faces! I couldn't decide on one, so you get to see all my favorites!
