Today is Wednesday, Right?

Wednesday, July 24, 2013
Man I have been working all week on the computer and can't remember what day it is. Yesterday I had a very heated debate with myself convincing me that it was Monday until Logan came home and said it was Tuesday for sure. I'm so awesome sometimes.

Yesterday when Logan got home from work he said "I'm taking you out to get ice cream" Me: "yay!" (giving him a big hug!) "why?" Then he told me how him and some of the other guys went out for ice cream. There is a married couple in the class and he was helping the wife in getting her husband out so she could decorate. It was a nice thing that he was doing for Amy and AJ but apparently he felt bad about not inviting me. So we decided to go get shaved ice instead. And that ended up being dinner! Haha.

We took them over to the cat park down by the river to see if we could add some more birds to his list (we got three more!).
When we walked down to the river past two ducks that were so not afraid of people. One had a really funny tuft of feathers at the back of his head. Logan stopped to take a pic of another bird a little further down. A few seconds later I heard a "quack" and look down and this guy is right next to my ankle! I seriously jumped!
I guess he really wanted to taste my shaved ice and Logan's that I was holding for him. Funny duck.

So last night I dreamed that I used magic to make my legs skinny. I was really disappointed when I woke up this morning.

Today, I've been working on booking our short trip this weekend to Austin and San Antonio. We just can't stay home when Ikea is calling our name! plus we are going to try and go to a session in the San Antonio temple because it might be our last chance for a while with the move coming up!!

Logan has his last graded test this next Monday! How well he does on it will determine if he is first in his class or not so I only get to see him for two hours until he goes to bed. It is hard but temporary and I'm so proud of him for working so hard.

Here is a pretty picture of a butterfly Logan took. Happy Wednesday (even if it feels like a Tuesday)!

Back to Texas

Tuesday, July 23, 2013
It is great being back with my husband. I could tell that while I was out with family he had really missed me. He told me that it was very hard taking care of himself and that he really appreciated me cooking and cleaning the house for him! aww!

That week they moved Logan's class to the morning. He had been going from 3-12:30am but now his class is from 6 in the morning to 3pm. Hard switch. I decided to make his class a treat (I do this pretty often). Because they are in the morning I decided to make sweet rolls (orange and cinnamon). I think they turned out pretty good and they used up a bunch of flour (I've been trying to use as much of my food storage before we move)! I got the recipe from here and I tweaked it a little.
It is always my favorite that Logan can't bring his work home so we had a super date this weekend (pretty much did a date on Friday and Saturday).
He took me out to eat, we went and got shaved ice and ate it as we walked the river walk.
Logan also decided that this week that he wanted to start a big year. Have you seen the movie? If not (you should), it is when you try to see as many birds in North America that you can. There are over 900 species. Logan has about 15 right now after this last weekend. We took most of them on the river walk.
I think it is a fun hobby. We get out of the house, get to use my camera and then Logan goes home and looks them up. I think he decided that he is just going to try and see how many he can find in the next decade. Good luck, honey!

Now this week I am mostly editing pictures that I took on vacation. Logan is working really hard to get a good score on his last graded test and that pretty much updates you on everything!

New Mexico/ Cabin, Part 2

Wednesday, July 17, 2013
When I got back to NM, I still had a few sickly days but my ear slowly did get better. One of the days me and mom went to the mall across town and I helped her pick out a new bra! Yay Mom! (Sorry I don't have any pictures of it. hehe).

That weekend we went up to the cabin to celebrate Grandma's Birthday! She turned 76 this year. Her present from mom and dad was redoing the eve that goes over the front door. She also got some pjs and mom made her a really beautiful wedding album and I bought her a pretty scarf.
It took us most of the time we were there to rebuild the front of the cabin but we all helped out and that made it pretty fun!
We also went on a walk to the lake. Mom and Grandma picked up pretty rocks and I took pictures.
We finished the porch on Saturday! All it needs is to get painted now. Here are some before and afters!
After church on Sunday, I took some couples pictures of mom and dad and gma and gpa. I think I got some really cute ones!
With the few days I had back in Albuquerque dad worked really hard and me and mom hung out. We found avocados on a really good sale so we bought a ton of them and made fresh guacamole and limeade the day before I left. They were really good! It was a great trip!

Dixon Family Reunion, Part 2

Tuesday, July 9, 2013
The night of Michelle and Clark's reception, we were invited to go boating the next day! I don't think I have been on a boat in like 10 years but I knew that Logan would love to go and I had just gotten a cute new swimsuit.

Tricia, Scott, Logan and me ended up going with the Skeens (good family friends) out to Lake Sammamish. It was not very warm out side so I doubted that I would even get in. Not to mention that I had never been wake boarding before so I highly doubted that I would even be able to do it.
Logan was the first on to get out on the board. On the first try he was up! He made it look so easy and he was way cool holding the rope one handed.
It had been about 7 years since he last went but Logan is usually good at everything so this didn't surprise me that he could still do this. He still wiped out a few times on his big jumps but I got some great shots.
After him, Scott tried and it took him several times to get up. That's when I decided that it probably really was as hard as I thought. Scott was able to get up and had some good runs. Tricia said that it took her years when she was younger to just get up but she ended up doing a great job too.

Then it was my turn. I honestly didn't want to or even plan on trying but I was feeling a little sick from the boat and thought I might as well try. I literally was shaking before I even got in the water I was so nervous . Surprisingly the water was actually really warm.

The worst part was that I got flipped up-side-down as I was trying to get into place so my board was behind me instead of in front. It was so embarrassing! I hadn't even tried to get up yet and I was already stuck. It took me several minutes just to figure out how to flip the board back in front of me (it was really hard to turn it in the water and was really heavy). The other problem was that my life vest was way too big so when I was in the water it choked me the whole time.
Anyway, so once I eventually got the board back over, it was actually time to start to try and get up on the wake board. Here are some of my fantastic wipe-outs!
About five wipe-outs later I actually stood up for a while!
After that, I had about two or three good runs before I was so tired I couldn't hold on to the rope any more. Everyone was very proud of me considering this was my first time and apparently it is harder to start as an adult I was told. I was pretty proud too.
Also while we were boating a beautiful bald eagle flew right over us.
The rest of the day part of the family went on a hike and the rest of us played in a homemade water slide in the back yard.

Sunday, before Logan flew back home, we got to see Tyler's (Dana and Guillaume's) baby blessing. This was the first baby blessing Logan got to be part of so it was very special. After Sacrament Meeting, we took a few family pictures before I went with Logan to the airport.
It was this morning that my ear started to feel clogged. By the afternoon when we were back at the Dixon house it started to hurt so bad I knew that I either needed to get some medicine or go to the emergency room. Sue was sweet enough to take me to Rite-Aid to get some drops to help. It turned out to be swimmer's ear.

The drops and medicine did help but for the last two days I was in Washington, I pretty much hurt so bad that I didn't do much other then sit on the couch and nap. It was a sad way to end the trip. I was lucky enough that the flight back to NM didn't hurt too bad. It wasn't until about a  week and a half later did my ear go back to normal but for those few minutes I got up on the wake board, it was so worth it!

Dixon Family Reunion/ Wedding, Part 1

Friday, July 5, 2013
In the middle of my trip to NM I flew up to Washington for the Dixon Family Reunion and Michelle's Wedding. I got there a few days before Logan and hung out with his family just doing fun silly stuff like minute-to-win-in games.
Logan and Clark (Michelle's new husband) were the last family members to get in on Wednesday and they got in just in time for our family temple session. They got 3 baby sitters and all the adults got to do a session together. It was really special all being there together.

The next day was family pictures and the banana run (5k). We had someone come take all the large group pics and then I took the individual family pics. It was a lot of fun and I'm still working on editing them. One of the funny things we did this year was take a pic of all the spouses.
I didn't get any pics of the run because I was too busy cheating. hehe. Lets just say it involved Logan pushing me up all the hills on a scooter and a shortcut.
Friday was wedding day! It was a beautiful Washington summer day!
Here's Michelle and Clark coming out of the temple. After big group pic,s Logan and me stayed behind with the photographer and the newly weds to them to the luncheon after. We held all their stuff and Logan followed with a bag of fruit snacks and water to feed them in between shots.
After the luncheon was Reception prep! We all worked hard to finish up the last minute decorations and food prep for that night.
Michelle got some beautiful flower arrangements from Pikes Market. Here is Logan showing them off.
Michelle had a a cake made my a family friend. About a half hour before the reception I asked who was going to put the fresh flowers on top. That is how I got that job. I also enlisted Robin's help and I think we did a great job with the finishing touches.
My job for the reception was to take the pics and Logan manned the dessert table (ice cream sundaes).
It was fun being able to help out and use my new camera! The only downside is that when you are on the other side of the camera you don't get many pictures of your self! I know this may seem strange but I actually like pictures of me.
Thanks to Ryan, we got one of us at the reception. It was a great day and I am so glad that Logan and me were both able to be there!

New Born Pictures

Tuesday, July 2, 2013
One thing I got to do while I was out in Washington was take New Born pictures of Dana's new baby boy! He was only 5 days old and so adorable! Here are my favorites that I took! ( I know a lot are in black and white but they ended up being my favorite!)
