July 2
Getting to Tokyo and our hotel (took all day!). We flew with the cheapest airline so the terminal was in the middle of the cargo loading area and we got plastic chairs to sit on.
Connor refused to take a nap on the flight. He really needed one too so it was hard dealing with this squirmy boy and trying to keep him happy. It was a 2 1/2 hour flight. I don't know how we would survive flying back to the states again.
July 3
Very rainy day!
Found an indoor shopping mall and went inside hoping the rain would stop. There we found lunch. You can never go wrong with a bakery.
Ueno Park
Toshogu Shrine
Shinonazu Pond - It was completely filled with giant water lilies just about to bloom.
Natural History museum
Asakusa
Tokyo Skytree
Senso-ji shrine
On our way back to the hotel on the metro
July 4
Imperial Palace East Gardens
It was still overcast but nice enough I could get my nice camera out.
After Connor's nap it started raining (hard) again. Sad caz this was supposed to be our driest day this weekend so we planned this stop especially for today. It made our mid day trip really hard.
Takeshita Street - going to try and go tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be raining as much. I wanna go shopping!
Meiji Shrine - so far I think this is my favorite site in Tokyo. I loved the trees so much!!
Back to the hotel for dinner. I think this is the only shot where you can see Connor's 4th of July outfit (red sharks and blue and white starfish in the shape of American flag).
4th of July dinner. Coco Ichibanya curry! The nice thing about this trip is that we didn't feel a lot of pressure to try and taste the local food because we live in Japan and can anytime we want but Coco curry is one of our favorite back home.
This was our attempt at taking a festive photo outside our hotel (It is an MWR and I can't remember what it stands for but it is basically a American military resort).
And just like every night it ends with Connor's bedtime routine. He has been good considering how much we have thrown him off schedule. As much as we have tried to keep things normal for him it is really hard traveling with a baby! Even one this cute!
July 5
Connor was so happy this morning! Probably because he slept in till 8:30. It was raining so we were in no rush.
Shibuya Crossing - iconic intersection were you always see a million people. It must have been a slow day because of the rain (and it was before noon).

Stopped raining and so we got to go back to Takeshita Street.

Also walked back to the entrance to the Meiji Shrine to get some better pictures because I thought it was so beautiful with all the trees.

Connor is becoming a expert metro rider. He makes friends (ie tries to pull their hair or clothes) with everyone.

After Connor's 3 hour nap we walked to the temple. Sadly it was closed this weekend for cleaning.
Arisugawanomiya Memorial Park - Found this pretty park just across from the temple.
I know it seems silly but we had to come to Tokyo to get American food! We also knew they were likely to have high chairs so that was a big factor too.
Buddy also wanted to pose for a picture. I think he wanted that strawberry smoothie.
This is how we have been sharing a room with Connor. I think it was genius! I bought laundry clips and they ended up being perfectly shaped to fit around the bar and keep the blanket on.
