Extreme Coupon Wannabe

Saturday, August 16, 2014
So there is this Facebook group for Okinawa Couponers that I joined and I've been trying to learn how to get better deals.

Today my total for everything in the pick below was $8.73 and with 10 coupons I saved $14.48 (I would have spent $23.21 without any discounts). That gives me a over all total of 63% off!
I know the really extreme Couponers would have gotten it all for like $1.23 or something but I'm still learning and proud I did pretty good. (I just used coupons today but I think you have to wait till they go on sale and then use a store and manufacturer coupon to get the ridiculous good deals). To me the best part is that it is all stuff I need/use regularly - not like 10 dog collars. Lol.

I also bought my first box of baby diapers because it was on a good sale and I know it is good to stock up whenever you see them for sale. Crazy I'm at that point! By the way, diapers are expensive! I got mine at $0.18 each and they say a good price is about $0.16 for size 2 BUT I used another coupon and got a container of baby wipes for free (I saved $2.79 on them and if you take that off the total, the diapers are about $0.16 each) so I think overall it was a good deal!

The Count Down

Tuesday, October 18, 2011
We are finally on the count down for our move! Eleven more days - we have a count down chain and everything! On the 29th we will be pulling out! Would you believe that I have lived her for 5 and a half years?! Just in case you wanted to know, that is more than a quarter of my life! It really is bittersweet. I'm so excited to start our new adventure and we have several fun things planned before Logan starts pilot training but we will be leaving lots of good friends and memories here.

This is our last week of work and our last day is on the 21st. I can't believe it! I will have been almost a year and a half working at my company and one day short of our year and a half anniversary. I promise that since we have been married I've stopped keeping track of how long it has been but a year and a half is still fun to celebrate. We're not sure what we are going to do (it'll probably involve some packing) but I'm sure we will have a fun time!

In the last while we have been trying to get all the thing done here in Utah that we want to do. So we have been hitting up our favorite local restaurants one more time. I couldn't leave without going to Aiyara Thai in American Fork or Demae on Provo Center Street, our favorite place in the world to get sushi! Other things we have also been doing is our drives up the canyons, frozen yogert, seeing dollar movies and of course seeing our friends that are still around!

So the moving is going well so far. We are less than two weeks out but I'm happy with what we have gotten done so far. We are renting a trailer and so we cleared out the corner in our second bedroom and tapped out the dimensions with duck tape and yarn. We practiced putting all our large items in the space and decided that it will be the right size for us.

The only sad thing is that we are going to have to get rid of most of the furniture. We planned on that before the move but I was most sad at getting rid of my chairs and table. I loved them but will have to let them go! It is okay because Logan has promised me knew ones :)

The hardest part of the move so far has been to eat up all our random foods, selling our things and coming to terms that this is really happening! I think it will hit closer to home when we are done with work and our apartment is empty.

Another thing that I have had to keep in mind is packing for the next three months and deciding what we will need and what will stay in storage. I feel like I am packing for three different trips and we really are! The hardest one will be when we get to the base. They will put us in temporary housing so we need to have available all our necessities for anywhere from two weeks to a month. Good thing I have so many good friends that have been really helpful with advice!

When Logan got his dates, it was later then we were planning on. That left us with the choice of staying in Provo or just moving home until January when he reports. Since we are both graduated, we can't stay in Wymount anymore (Oct 31st is the last day). We prayed about it and felt that the best plan for us would be to stay with our parents instead of trying to move somewhere for three months. Logan was reluctant but I told him, he would not really have any breaks for the next year and he needed to take a break. We are super excited to have all the family time too!

The plan is to move all our stuff to Albuquerque, NM (my parent's home) and we will be with them for my birthday and Thanksgiving. Then, in December we are going to Bellevue, WA to have Christmas and new years with all of Logan's family! It will be great!

We also have one more thing planned on November 1st. WE ARE FLYING TO EUROPE!! I really didn't think it was going to happen and then all the sudden tickets dropped and after much financial planning and talking we bought them! We will be there for two weeks and we plan on seeing Belgium, Paris, London and Madrid! This trip is really only possible because we get to go and stay with Logan's sister in Brussels.

I'm super excited to see Spain. Since I was in Jr. High, I have always dreamed of going to Spain. We did a class project and I just fell in love with it! How fortunate that I married a man that served there! Lucky me! I can't wait to have Logan show me around. It really makes me feel more comfortable knowing that he knows his way around to places and can speak the language fluently! He is the best!

I always figured that we would go there someday but never could have imagined that we would do it so soon after getting married! I feel so blessed!

So that is what we will be up to for the next few months and all our adventures until we move to Enid, Oklahoma at the beginning of next year. I can't wait!

9/11

Thursday, September 15, 2011
On the day before 9/11, We went to the Memorial at the Healing Field in Sandy, UT.

There were nearly 3,000 flags that represent every person who died that day. Every one had a story attached to a card.

This year they dedicated a new sculpture called Hope Rising by Stan Watts.

Family History

Monday, August 15, 2011
Last night my sister called to tell me about some family history information that she learned from the New Family Search website. Here are some of the highlights (the "greats" may be off one or two):

Through my grandpa Cluff's grandmother, we are direct descendants of Old King Cole (as in the nursery rhyme. he is my 52nd Grandpa) , King Lear (Shakespeare's play is based on) and the Pendragon Family (King Arthur). These lines also connect us to most of the Roman Emperors.

Through this same line you reach Anna of Arimathea (also the Queen of Wales) who was form Isreal (She is a direct Grandmother). When my sister clicked on her name it shows that she is the cousin of Mary Magdalene.

Some other fun facts:

We have many lines that have been in the Americas for a long time. The earliest one is when John Clough Sr. (My 10th Great Grandpa) come over from England in 1614. To reference this, Jamestown was the first successful English colony to be established in the Americas and was founded in 1607.

My other lines come to the United States in 1670 from England, 1687 from Ireland, 1701 from the Netherlands, 1845 from England and 1880 from England. The last two were converted by LDS missionaries and went to gather with the saints.

All my lines except one, were converted into the LDS church at the time of Joseph Smith.

I just think that this is all so amazing and it makes me want to learn even more!

pinterest.com

A few weeks ago my friend introduced me to pinterest.com and now I am addicted! It is so much fun to find all these great crafts, recipes and home ideas! When I started, I decided that if I "pinned" something, I wanted to actually make it! So here are My favorite things I have made so far!!

Below is a grocery bag holder. Super simple to sew and really works just as good as it looks!
These are called Lasagna Roll Ups and are about the easiest things that I have ever made! Traditional Lasagna is pretty intimidating to me and never looks that good but these were easy to make and look good even after you dish them out because they are already in single serving sizes.
I have linked these to their sites so you can make them too! Just Click on the pictures! Note: for the Lasagna, I put sauce on the top to keep the noodles more moist.

Exercise Is Good For You, Or So They Say

Wednesday, June 29, 2011
It has been a while since I went on a good run but I went for 2 miles yesterday (that's a big deal for me) and then went back to my apartment to do sit ups. I finished 200 sit ups before Logan got home!

Photobucket
Here is a map via mapmyrun.com of my route

For those who are not familiar with Provo, my apartment complex is on a hill, so, if I want to go anywhere I have to go downhill and then run back up before I can get back. Going down 9th I felt so good and it was no problem. Then, I turned around and huffed and puffed my way back up the hill. Mostly, I'm just proud that I went. Logan ran 6 miles earlier that same day while I was at work.

I just got to keep working on it! The only way to get better is to keep going!

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 19, 2011
Me and my daddy on my wedding day!

This is a shout out to the most wonderful father in the whole world! I have always loved being daddy's little girl! Growing up I loved to tag along and be his little helper. Now he helps me to make good choices and gives me words of wisdom. Of course my dad is also silly sometimes and we love that too! In proof of that, I have attached the front of the card I made for him this year!

I can't believe that I came across both of these pictures! It was funny to see all the similarities! The top one is from when I was about seven and the second is on my wedding day!
