Columbus Weekend+ 10/6-10/12

Took Connor and our friends Dannah and her son Slater out to see the Nakagusuku Castle ruins. From the parking lot you can see this half built abandoned hotel. It's a pretty good Halloween story actually. WARNING- don't read this story if you don't want to be creeped out!
Legend goes, a very wealthy businessman bought this land in the 70s to build a huge luxury hotel with small water park, night club and zoo with perfect panoramic views of the ocean on the hill next to the Nakagusuku Castle ruins. He was told not to disturb the land by local priests as it was a sacred burial site filled with ancient tombs but ignored and stared construction anyway. His workers started dying in strange construction accidents some even jumping to their death from the structure. Work slowed down and and most of the workers quit believing that the land was cursed.  The original owner is said to have volunteered to spend the night in the unfinished hotel to prove that it wasn’t haunted, but by morning, he had gone insane and was subsequently committed to a mental asylum, from which he disappeared shortly afterwards. Now, his ghost is said to roam the rubble-strewn corridors.
The hotel was open for a long time to tourists but after accidents it has been deemed off limits. Apparently there are stairways that lead to no where, zoo enclosures with bent bars and the few brave enough to venture in have seen orbs of light and felt the presence of ghosts. Creepy stuff!

So now here we are at the nice and safe castle ruins! They were beautiful!
Connor and his friend Slater love playing chase! I think it is funny how they have no clue that they are running on the grounds of a castle but in the 14th century.
We tired to get a picture of them both sitting on the steps.
More tag :)
From the top you can see the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
It was a really hot day and so I gave Connor his water that he chugged down. As I was driving and about 10 minutes away from home I noticed Connor had a really sad look on his face, tears in his eyes and then burst out crying. Just after that he threw up everything he had had that morning. I thought it was just because he drank his water too fast but then the following days he was clearly runny nose, coughing, sneezing sick.
Sad sick baby!
I got sick too! So annoying when it is on a 4 day weekend. Saturday I was feeling crappy and Logan suggested we go out to eat for brunch. We went to the officer's club and I had totally forgot they were having a Kimono sale that I had wanted to go to. I found this one and instantly fell in love! These sweet Japanese ladies dressed me up and it totally worked to convince me to buy it!
Later that day was the annual firetruck parade and our house just happens to be on the neighborhood route it takes. Connor was not feeling good but being outside was nice. Here we are waiting.
To keep Connor occupied I let him play in the car. Funny enough he found this mini pocket knife I bought for Logan that looks just like a key. I thought it was great that Connor knew just were keys go!
Last year Connor practically went into shock because the sirens were so loud. This year we outfitted him with some ear protection and that worked perfectly! As the trucks went by they threw candy for the kids. A week earlier we donated a dollar and definitly got our money's worth. Connor did pick up a sucker and tried to put it in his mouth, I told him yuck yuck and he never touched another piece of candy after that. It makes me a little sad that he has never had any candy and doesn't even know what it is! Logan and I ate some and I put the rest in our halloween candy.
On Monday we all went out to do some errands. Logan got his Master's Diploma in the mail. You may not be able to read it but it says it is "with honors". Good job Log!
Because we can't get Connor treats to help cheer him up we got him a balloon! He loved it!!
We had a movie night with Connor! It only lasted a few minutes but was still fun!
View from a walk that week.
Yep, still sick.
By this day he was seeming to feel better so I took him to the park with one of the groups we go with.
This is our version of a pumpkin patch here. Sad but at lease the store makes the display look nice.
I tied to let Connor pick one out but he picked up every one he could. Finally I just picked out one that wasn't already moldy. This little thing cost me $5!
After taking some pictures I put it on the porch and took Connor in. When Connor saw it out the window he kept saying "Uh, oh! Uh, oh!" because he thought we forgot it outside and wasn't happy until I brought it in.
At the 100 yen store I bought some little wall clings so Connor could help decorate for halloween. I thought for sure he would love rearranging them but what he had fun doing was ripping them apart and throwing them on the ground. "Weird mom, I don't know what happened".
