I got to leave Connor with a sitter this Friday/Saturday and go with a group of 9 other ladies from Church on a girls overnight trip! It was so amazing! (Most of the pictures are ones I took but I did borrow a few others from friends so you could see more of me).
Ferry to Aka Island - It takes about and hour and a half to ride the ferry from Naha to the little port in Aka.
When we got there the little bed and breakfast we were staying at picked us up in the little Japanese pickup and van.
Here we all are in our trip Tshirts! Kaite, you know how you were the longest and skinny-est person at your Zentangle thing, I was in the same situation! The oldest was one sister at 45 and then I was the youngest at 28. Here we are on the back porch of the bed and breakfast.
Here I am in the front of the place we stayed. As far as I know they had no association with Hard Rock. haha.
The back porch again and then a shot showing it from the bay. It is the first building on the left.
The room was traditional Japanese style. We pulled the futons and blankets out of the closet. There were no towels and we all shared the bathrooms outside. It kinda felt like Girls Camp again!
So there the little town we stayed in was really small (250 people) and when we were there only one restaurant was open. So we ate there! Getting some taco rice!
This was the view from the door. The next day we went back again and I got a soba. It was pretty good!
After lunch we walked to Sea Turtle Beach.
And guess what! We saw a sea turtle!! (It is swimming away in the left picture and the right is of some pretty coral).
It's hard to smile with a snorkel in your mouth. haha
The next stop was Main beach for some more snorkeling.
So there was the Japanese guy in a bright red speedo that kept talking to us. We didn't understand what he was saying but one time he swam by me and said octopus! I understood that and he showed me where it was. He tried to scare it out. It didn't move but it was so cool to see how they turn camouflage! Can you see it in the last picture?!
More fish!
We go picked up again in the little truck and got back to the b and b to wash up and for dinner. I'm a pretty picky eater but loved dinner! It came in several courses. I didn't get a picture of the weird soup but here are the other items. They said the fish was tuna that they caught earlier that week!!
This breaded Tuna was "dessert". The island has tons of deer we saw all over the island and watched while we ate.
This is the view from the back porch the next morning.
Breakfast. Kinda weird to have salad, cold potato salad on the plate but the rest was good.
Our second day we hiked down to Secret Beach. Look at that view walking down out of the trees!
So pretty!
Mom, I will have to take you here! Big huge shells all over! I
This ended up being my favorite shot from the whole trip!
Walking back, beautiful overlook...but oh wait, whats that swimming in the water?! Oh, you know, just a huge manta ray!
This was Sunset beach. We passed it but didn't have time to go down.
Mom! I wanted to pick every shell up for you!! This group on the beach had obviously been picked up but there were so many groups of shells just laying on the beach undisturbed! It was crazy!
Walking back to the port. Beautiful day! It was hot but I was good the whole trip about wearing sunblock and never burned at all!
See ya Aka Island! I will come back someday!
