So I feel like the last while we have been so sick around here. Connor got a cold, and then I got it. Then he got some kind of virus that has kept him pretty grumpy the last few weeks and then got another cold to finish up his sick sandwich. Did I also mention that he is teething too? So all the sickness along with me being busy means I haven't posted much. Sorry guys! But now you get another overload of photos (sorted mostly the newest to oldest because thats how they uploaded)!
Even with the funk, Connor has still has times where he is a pretty good boy and keeps exploring and learning! I feel like we hit another mile marker with his learning. About a month ago he all the sudden he started trying to put his animal puzzles together. Before he would just throw them but one day he sat at his table (where I always keep them on top just in case he was interested in them) and started putting them in the right places. It was like it all the sudden clicked and he knew that he was supposed to match up the pictures and got them all in the right spots even if they were not all the way down in. He also loves to eat snacks and climb on top of his table.
The other thing that has improved a lot is his speech! Connor is much more willing to copy and try new sounds. A while ago he said "duck" and "fish" and then the next day he said "cheese" and I taught him to say Totoro again. He loves that one because it is really just like yelling! TOH TOH RAAA! So cute. One morning that was the first thing he said. Today he tried saying butterfly.
Connor loves making animal sounds! He can tell me what a dog, cat, pig, lion, tiger, elephant, chicken, monkey and owl say. On a good day he will remember them all but sometimes they all say woof.
Connor signs "all done", "more" and "please" really well and usually remembers them and uses them correctly.
The word he really says the most now is of course "NO!"... all day long! It was cute for about 2 days. Now he will just yell it over and over when he doesn't feel good 'till I distract him with something else. Although when he is actually using it to communicate it is just fine. Usually I ask him a question and he will say "no. no" in a sweet little voice.
"Connor, do you want to eat?"
"no. no"
"Do you want to change your diaper?"
"no. no"
"Do you want to watch TV?"
*points at TV* meaning yes! (Yeah, Connor really likes to watch TV now).
Connor also does the cutes nods when I tell him to say yes.
Connor loves the show Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. He would watch that all day if I let him. He also likes the Japanese children's channel. The other day it was showing two boys playing marbles and he thought it was hilarious!
Connor's favorite thing in the whole world is being outside! It is hard when its the rainy season. But that just makes being outside even better to him! We can't ever pass a puddle without at least a few stomps and then bending down to splash in it with his hands too. This day Connor came to get my hand said "shoes" and then walked me to to the shoe closet and signed please (he is good at communicating with just a few words). It was only misting a little so I consented. Look how cute he is in his shorts and little boots!
Connor is always looking to do something new. I was on an important phone call and he wanted in to get his shoes again. I just opened the door and walked away. This closet is messy on a good day but Connor crawled all the way to the back and took apart the holiday box. He also loves to climb. He learned that he can get up on my tall chairs all by himself! And of course that means he can get on the table. Nowhere is safe!
Two Sundays ago Connor woke up with a big snotty green cold. I couldn't take him to nursery but I was already ready and I needed to take the snack so I dressed him and went for to just drop it off. There was a nice little green spot by the car and Connor looked too cute not to get a few pics. The top one on the right I feel like really captures his personality. His little curious happy face and ready to spring - so him.
I was chatting with the neighbors and Connor helped himself by getting up on their little trampoline. I didn't know he knew how to but he started jumping and was pretty good (lots of practice from bouncing in his crib)!
Connor also loves to play with his friend Leighton. Too bad they just moved. We will miss them!
Connor's sleep schedule has been a bit off because he has been so sick meaning I have to wake him from his nap sometimes. Sometimes it is extra hard to wake up. Even with back rubs, talking, bottles and love he wont open his eyes. Of course it is equally frustrating when he won't go to sleep at night! He has been waking up about an hour or two after I put him to bed and just wants to play downstairs so we are sleep training...again...
Things that help Connor feel better when he is sick are snuggling, watching TV with mom, his pacifier and making silly faces at the camera!
I order a lot off of amazon when I need things. It is fun getting packages but not always that great waiting in line to get them. It can be very hard for a 1 1/2 year old to wait in line that long. I usually wear him in my carrier on my back but sometimes I let him down. Connor loves doing circles around the poles, turning the locks on the mail boxes and running away. Good times.
The fun doesn't end there! Connor sometimes helps me carry the boxes inside. He got this box all the way up on the 4th stair before getting too tired to keep going.
I ordered a mat for my new desk to protect the top. It is flat but came in this HUGE box with so much filler paper!
Remember how I said Connor got a viral infection. On mother's day he broke out in a rash all over his body! Poor thing. I could tell he was really uncomfortable so I took scratchy clothes off and let him run around. It looked pretty bad for a few days but thankfully faded quickly after.
The day before this I knew something was wrong because we were at the beach and he walked over to me, laid down on my lap and tried to go to sleep!!! That was so crazy! He never sleeps outside his crib and with so much sand to be played in I couldn't believe it. Like I said, I knew there had to be something wrong.
Here we are at White Beach for a farewell party for several of our friends.
Connor noticed I was taking photos of him and took his pacifier out and stuck his tongue out at me. I kinda hate it when I see people do that but for some cute reason he can get away with it. Connor helps me carry bags in sometimes but this day he was taking them hostage to the park. He knows the way, and I'm sure if I didn't stop him he would go there by himself every time we went out the front door.
We took him to the store for the Star Wars meet and greet because we are cool parents. As you can see, Connor has a little dark side in him. After that we decided to get dinner there at the food court and gave Connor a cup of water with a straw. He loved it and it entertained him the whole time. At home he loves his sippy cup with water! He will drink the whole thing! I just can't let him have too much or he pees out of his diaper all day.
These are supposed to be on the shelf in his room but he asked so nicely he got all his foxes. I asked if he would give a fox a kiss and he did and then I asked if the foxes could kiss and he totally put two of them together with their noses touching and had them kiss. It surprises me the things he understands sometimes!
Logan was teasing him with this suction cup and Connor put it on his own forehead.
Connor is a tough little guy! He can hold on to the monkey bars for a long time! 21 seconds is his best ever!
"Helping" dad on his paper and doing some writing of his own.
I wasn't paying much attention one day and all the sudden Connor walks by like this with the block bag on his head. Haha! Don't worry I took it off.
Playing with his teddy bear, Buddy from Aunt Katie. His teddy likes head bonks and eating blocks. His teddy bear also gets rides on his little scooter bike and down the slide.
So curious! He loves flashlights and my head lamp!
Bugs are the best! Even dead ones and spiders!
So cool and telling his daddy stories.
I did a photo shoot for my friends that were leaving and to help me remember where all the buttons were I took a couple of candid shots of Connor. He is my favorite!
Look how big he has gotten! Hard to believe he was so tiny when he was born and now he will be turning 2 years old in just a few months!
Connor loves to tease me! He thought it was so funny to pull my hoodie string. I also taught him how to make a fish face! Isn't it cute!
A few other things I wanted to write down.
Connor loves to wash his hands. The sink is a magical place (as in it is also fun to splash). He has also noticed that the hose outside leaks a little and he will walk over to get his hands a little wet and rub his two hands together. He also loves hand sanitizer and lotion. You can see him do it in the video with the water table.
I love it when Connor is in a loving mood! He will run to me to wrap his arms around my neck if I'm on the floor or my leg when standing. I love when he just decides that I need a kiss. At night before I lay him down I snuggle with him in my arms for just a little bit by his crib because he loves to hold on and all on his own started patting my back one day. So now he pats my back and I pat his and we share an adorable moment almost every night.
