Before we left on our mini vacation to Okuma, I gave Connor his Bunny Day present a few days early because it would be perfect for our little trip!
The site is on a peninsula so there is water almost on every side. I didn't realize that when I booked our room it would practically be on the beach! It was off season so it was super cheap too! Here is the view from just inside our room! The stone wall was the separator to the beach (and it was closer then it looked because of the way cameras zoom out). It wasn't super fancy but that didn't matter when you can hear ocean waves from your room! Connor liked the room too :)
Walking out to the beach (you can see our room just behind Logan's shoulder). Connor LOVES sand! He loves the way it feels in his fingers and loves to throw it and crawl through it with his hands out front.
Connor also loved destroying sand castles his daddy made. You can see how happy he is when he noticed them. Another time he got so excited he tried to knock them down with his face and ate a little more then he wanted haha.
One of the things that makes Okuma so fun are the extra amenities. The next morning we went on a glass bottom boat tour. No one else signed up for our time so it turned into a private tour. We didn't see anything amazing (off season) but it was fun to see the coral and how clear the water was. We did see some sea snakes, starfish, huge clams, sea cucumbers and sea slugs and lots of fish.
One thing I thought was so interesting was how the reefs made the water look stripped.
Life jackets were not mandatory but I still made Connor wear his: one, because I'm a paranoid mother. Two, Connor didn't seem to mind and three, he looked so cute!
As we were walking back Connor spied one of the many golf carts and knew exactly what he wanted to do! He climbed right up and tried to "drive" it.
After nap time we rented a buggy bike and peddled our way around the main part of resort (it only took 15 minutes).
So with the rest of our hour rental we took it out to the overlook parked and climbed up to the top. Check out the East China Sea!
Again, I think it is so cute that Connor is so good about wearing things. Look at that little helmet!
Next up, Minigolf! And yes, it is as hard as it sounds with a 1 1/2 year old. He loved stealing our balls after they went in the holes and created an extra obstacle on the course.
Connor still did pretty good!
Connor was so good at meals! We fed him before and then brought enough things to keep him happy and he was so good to play in his high chair. I think the Japanese were a little worried I was not feeding him though. On the last night we splurged and got steak and lobster! Another reason this was such a great vacation!
Last morning on the beach. Logan buried Connor and he crawled out pretty fast but then walked back around to sit in the same hole and waited to buried again.
Time to go happy baby! Look at that little boy and his sand and sticks! Life doesn't get better!
The only one thing that could have been better was that by the last morning Connor started coming down with a cold and is definitely sick today but hey, we are home and life goes on.
