Typhoon Neoguri

Look what is on it's way! It is forecasted to get here early Tuesday. It was first going to be a cat 2 and then yesterday they said cat 4 when it passes us. Now they are saying it will be a 5! and the right front quadrant is going right over us- which is the most damaging part of the storm because of the wind. 

We spent today prepping. We have snacks, food if the power goes out, lots of water and most importantly battery operated fans! We lost power just last week for 3 hours from 1am to 3:45. I woke up about 10 minutes after it went out because I was already sweating! It really is that hot and humid! I mean, today we had a heat index of 108! I couldn't find any bigger fans that run on batteries so the 3 I got from the 100 yen store will have to do! Better then nothing! 

If you look at the pic above, I live in the little square labeled Okinawa and you can see the path going right over us! Very exciting. I'm grateful during these times that I live in a cement bunker on a hill.

Morning Walks

Hey! Let's go for a walk. Put on your tennis shoes because it is going to be a little over a mile. You might also want a hat and some sunglasses because even this early in the morning it is HOT out there (with the heat index its already 98)!

Ok! Baby and me are ready! First as we go out the door and down the steps you get to pass our pet spider and the cool bush that bloomed this week.

Just around the corner from the building to our left is the little park that I will be taking Connor to when we get bored of being inside. 

We passed a few more buildings and now we are starting to go down the hill. Over to our right is a nice view of the ocean. It is easier to see then it looks through the camera. You can also see some of the flight line and tower. 

One thing we have a ton of are snails! And they come in all sizes. This unfortunate one got caught in the concrete gutter and perished under the sun but you can really see how big they can get! 

Still going down the hill. This is actually right around where I fell on Jan 1st and messed up my hand. It took about 4 months to heal all the way but I don't have any issues with it now, thank goodness. 

The cicadas are in full season and you can hear it! 

I think it is funny that several times I have seen some people on island post pics on FB of their exoskeletons wondering what in the world they are! They are also extra huge! I wish the dead one in the second pic still had all of its wings. We have seen some flying around that are almost the size of hummingbirds. 

Made it to the bottom of the hill now and are walking around the back side of my neighborhood. Behind my house, there is just forest that you can see. 

And here is my baby bump again! Because I honestly can't go more then 10 minutes without looking at it! Yesterday I saw it move for the first time when baby kicked and then spent like 20 minutes unsuccessfully trying to catch it moving on video. haha. To others it still looks barely there (and they tell me so) but from my view it is really growing! 

 So this is the long straight part of the walk not much to see until you get to the end and the hill curves down a bit just enough that you can see the new LDS church building that I go to! It is just across the street from the base perimeter fence.

We have now made it back to the other end of the street I live on. Here is the bottom of Rolling Heights.

I love the little reminders that I live on a semi-tropical island like palm trees in front of all the houses and blooming hibiscus bushes. 

Going back up the other side of the hill. I like living up on the hill but you always have to go back up to get home. You can also see a little strip of ocean on this side but again it is hard to tell.

 Ok. This hill is getting long. Lets stop for just a sec. Nothing really to take a picture of here but my shadow. Can't see my bump from this angel but I'm glad to still have a bit of a waist.

Let's keep going. Oh, look! A caterpillar! They have been all over lately too! 

On the final stretch up the hill. You can now see the 4 buildings that make up my little circle of the neighborhood. For some reason I think the big retaining wall looks pretty cool.

We made it back home! Time to get some cold water and play on the computer until I cool down! 

AmericaFest and other stuff

This weekend is a big festival called AmericaFest. It's all on base and they had rides, games, vendors, planes to check out and a free 3 Doors Down concert all out on the flight line!

Log and me just went out to the concert (too hot and humid during the day) and enjoyed it while we ate our snow cones. 

Funny enough, other than the Trans Siberian concert we went to two years ago, this is kinda the first rock concert either of us has ever been too. Probably caz it was free haha. We didn't get too close though because it's not good for baby and I could really feel my belly vibrating. Still it was pretty fun. 

It goes on again tomorrow but they are also inviting all the local nationals (the Japanese) to come too! Sounds a little too crazy for us. I think we will just stay home Sunday and watch the fireworks from our house. 

In other news, we bought the nursery set I wanted today! Now we just have to wait 3-6 months for it to get shipped here. I wish I was exaggerating. At least I know it is on it's way now and Connor won't be using it until about that time anyway caz I got a CoSleeper for him to stay in our room while he is still nursing all night. Hopefully it will still get here sooner than later because his room is ready to be decorated!

The only remnant left of the office is just a few book boxes Logan wanted to go though. Other than that, I've completely cleaned it out and he now has his own closet!

Its a Boy!!

Here are the ultrasound pics of Connor at 21 weeks, 4 days. Look at that sweet little face! You can even see his teeth in his gums. 

When the technician was getting the shot of his feet he actually had his hand down playing with his toes at first. Adorable!

Aaannnndd it was definitely a boy!! Haha. She said girls have hamburgers and boys have turtles. Lol. You can see his little 'turtle' facing right. 

Later on she got a real good shot of his boy parts. No doubt about it! He's a boy. (I hope none of you are offended at me showing you my baby's junk. Haha)

We learned that baby is already head down and has his bum all the way up by my ribs. No wonder I already can't breathe! He weights approximately 1.1 pounds and the technician said that everything looked good!

Now I can really get started on the nursery and making plans for this little boy! So fun! 

Half Way There

My Mom took these of me at exactly 20 weeks. I thought it was super cute that on the morning of, I felt the baby have the hiccups for the first time. 

As you can see my t-shirts are starting to look a bit short in front. 

Also as of this week, when I sit down my normal pants are feeling too tight so don't be surprised if you see me with them unbuttoned from time to time. 

At this point baby is about 6.5 inches long and 10.2 oz. I have gained back most of the weight I lost in my first trimester and now weigh about 2 pounds more then I usually do. It seems so strange because my belly and love handles are the biggest they have ever been!

Baby Updates

This afternoon mom helped me with a little photo shoot! Look at my little baby bump! I am at 19 weeks and 3 days.

I have been feeling baby everyday now since I was at 16 weeks! At 19 weeks, baby's kicks really started to get strong. I can usually tell right were he is and sometimes he even punches one side and kicks the other at the same time. It was pretty funny the other day when I could feel it on either side of my belly button. One side would get kicked and then a second later he would punch the other side.

The most exciting thing is that I can now feel him with my hand on the outside! Last Wednesday we ate hamburgers and baby must have really liked them because he kicked me the whole night after that. I actually don't really like hamburgers but Logan loves them and now so does my baby and I am already feeling outnumbered.

Anyway, Mom, Shelby and me went to see a movie that night while baby was kicking so much. I usually don't put my hand down my pants in public but I didn't think it would be too bad in a dark theater. Just before the end, I actually felt him kick my hand. I was surprised that I could feel it over three fingers. My child is so strong (yet another trait he gets from Logan and not me)!

I have felt him with my hand several times now :)

I Love To See The Temple

On Memorial Day weekend, Logan got to take a break and drive up to Albuquerque to see me! 

I am so grateful for having the opportunity to go to the temple with my husband. When we came out to visit, I knew we had to make it a priority because we haven't been since moving to Japan and won't get another opportunity until after baby comes. It was hard to go when I didn't feel great but I'm so glad we did!

It filled my soul with happiness and I know that it is the house of the Lord and we are so blessed to learn of our salvation as well as remember all the blessings of being sealed together for time and all eternity. 

It was also fun to get to stand in the same place where Logan proposed to me 4 and a half years ago! I love my little growing family!!

Family Baby Shower

I was so lucky to get to have a baby shower with all my family when I was in the states! My mom and sisters are amazing and just did a fantastic job! I felt so loved! Here are some pictures from the event.

It was so special to have all my sisters and great grandma there!
