Bali Days 2-3

Day 2
They make us breakfast every morning of toast, eggs and fresh fruits. Very good and Connor loves making a mess out of his rice and watermelon. After breakfast we went walking around. Down one of the allies was this beautiful little building.

Lots of stray dogs here. Connor loves everyone of them! When he sees one he waves his little arms as fast as he can and tries to run after them. Luckily they are all very tame. They seem to have better manners then most house dogs I've ever met.

Three minutes walking in one direction from our villa is the ocean and the other way are beautiful rice fields. I'm looking forward to the terraced rice fields when we go to stay in Ubud at the end of our trip. Apparently that is where they filmed the last part of Eat Pray Love.

The first day here when we were given a tour by the villa owner her staff gave us coconut water. Connor loves it and I've read about how good it is at keeping you hydrated. We have been spends lot of time outside and I've worried about him so I asked if she could get us some more. I have her 1000 IDR (about 75 cents) and she came back with an actual green coconut! I honestly wasn't expecting that. She cut the top off and we all had as fresh as it comes coconut water.
The flesh tasted like coconut jello.
After that we put Connor down for a nap and both got full body messages on the front deck of our villa. Seriously this place is one indulgence after another and when it only costs $14 you really can.

After dinner ($5 total for fruit drinks 2 appetizers and 2 entrées- still in shock how cheap food is here compared to Japan) we swam in our private pool.
Man I just feel like I'm bragging about everything. Sorry guys it's just amazing here!

Day 3
Today we got to go to the turtle conservation and education center. There we adopted 2 baby green sea turtles! They were hatched at the conservation center and at one month old they were ready to be released so that they have a better chance of survival.
We named them after Connor's favorite cousins (just seemed to fit considering they were green sea turtles)! The lighter and a bit bigger one we named Kara and the little one on the right above is Ava. You can see the names on our certificates.
After picking out turtles out we then drove to the beach to release them into the wild! I feel like these are the best pets ever! Think about it, we can always tell Connor how he has a pet sea turtle and it can live just as long as him (100years) but we don't  have to ever worry about feeding or cleaning up after it. They said in 20 years they will come back to this same spot to lay eggs so if he wants to see them again we can tell him he can come back after his mission.

There Kara the turtle goes! She was fast and swam out right away!

And here is Ava the turtle!

She was a little shy at first but figured it out eventually. It was so fun to hold and release them! Probably not quite as cool as Shelby's experience but pretty close!

Walking back to the car with our driver Made. We walked by a group of people and all the sudden they were taking pictures of all the babies! Haha.

So many scooters everywhere! I would be so scared to drive one!

Our last stop for the day was at a temple complex called Tanah Lot. It was beautiful to watch the sunset here!

Below is the actual temple out on the right. At high tide it is an island.

Lots of offerings below. They are in front of almost every building including our villa. Our driver said it was part of a Hindu ceremony.

We walked down to the temple. I love this pic of Connor and I.

Watching the sun set on the other side of the complex. Connor fell asleep on the walk back.

Just as the sun's last light was shining out from the clouds we looked over to the left of the beach and something unexpected happened! Thousands of bats started flying out of a cave just over the water! It was amazing and went on forever. I've never seen anything like it! Here is a link to the video I took. Sorry if the bats are hard to see - it all looks very small on my phone.  http://youtu.be/JfT1m94LIEg
After sunset and the bats we got some dinner and of course another young green coconut to share.

We Made It To Bali!

Wednesday, October 14, 2015
So glad to be here! Connor was pretty good for us and although he refused to sleep on the first flight we were ok with it because he slept 4 hours on the long one.
We got to our villa around 2 our time (they are behind us by an hour). I love that we have the whole place to ourselves! I brought the monitor so we can swim in our pool while he naps. It was interesting waking up to chickens and farm animal noises this morning.
Today we met the "staff" and villa owner visiting here from Singapore. We walked around the little town and checked out the beach! Look at the black sand!
Connor took a great nap this afternoon and then we got a driver and went to the store for snacks and a touristy place called Echo Beach for dinner.
It took a while for them to get us dinner (mess up with the order) but when it came it was so yummy! I got pumpkin, lemon grass and coconut soup and a large Hawaiian pizza. And everything here is so cheap! Along with Logan's kebab and jalapeño quesadilla the total was only $22 (in Japan that would be the cost of just a medium pizza).

RS Activity

Friday, October 9, 2015
At our activity tonight we made onigiri (rice balls) and then two sisters from the Japanese ward helped us dress up in Yukatas! These are like light weight Kimonos. I love living in Japan!

Water Table, Leaves and Hugs

Wednesday, October 7, 2015
Went to play with Leighton today. Connor had so much fun!
The trees still loose their leaves even though it hasn't gotten below 70 at night. Connor plopped down in a little pile and had fun throwing them and taking his hand through them.
All that playing can make you a little thirsty! Umm grass, leaf water!
Connor sat down next to Leighton in the grass and gave her a kiss. Then Meg told Leighton to give Connor a hug (she understands a lot of words) and she walked over and hugged him. Connor loved it and never wanted to let go (much to Leighton's dismay).
After she got away Connor chased her around the yard with a huge smile trying to hug her again. Man those girls sure play hard to get.

Connor's Birthday Party

Sunday, October 4, 2015
Getting ready. Logan helped me with the streamers.
Decorations. I made his hat and iron-on bib. After I started making the cake I realized that I have never really frosted one before haha. I decided to go with a textured look because it was impossible to get smooth and the more I messed with it the more crumbs got into the frosting.
Here are some of the people who came.
So sweet of people to bring presents even when I said they didn't need to.
 Love this one year old!
