Trip to Buena Vista, Virginia

Friday was the first day of Connor's first spring break. We drove down to Virginia to visit Logan's sister Tricia and her family. They have two boys that are 5 and 2.

The drive down was not very fun. For the first 3 hours of the trip actually took over 5 hours to get through. We knew there would be delays in DC but it seemed like the second we drove into Delaware we were stopping in traffic every ten minutes for no apparent reason. Then we got into DC and it was raining super hard so traffic was even worse. The hardest part that with all the stops Liam never really took a nap. I think he sleep 1 total hour of our 8 hour drive and he should have slept at least half. When Liam cries, Connor cries and we were all just a hot mess. But eventually we did make it and the boys both slept great that night.

This morning the boys had fun playing. It was a little hard for them to get along at first (sharing is hard) but eventually they learned to get along and were cute.
In the afternoon we met up with some friends that we were close to in Okinawa. It was cute seeing Connor with Ely again! And Heathery was my visiting teacher and great friend. We spent a lot of time chatting and helping to watch each other’s kids when we lived on Okinawa. People from there will always feel almost like family.
When we got back we did a little Easter Egg hunt.

Easter Sunday.
We went to church and tried to get a good picture of the 4 boys. That was funny. I loved that Liam was so happy to be part of the big boys.
Later in the afternoon we did Easter baskets and all the kids had way too much candy.

For some reason this morning I felt like it was really important we leave a day early so we got packed up. Before leaving we went to visit Southern Virginia University. It’s kinda known as the east coast Mormon school. It’s not very big. Really just a collection of a few buildings but it was beautiful in spring! Tricia said the student body is about 1000 students. She even used to dorm in the big main building you’ll see is in front of with the knight statue. Logan’s sister Tricia and husband Kyle live there because he is a choral conductor at the school.
After our campus tour we finished getting our stuff in the car and headed back home. This time was way easier. The boys were happier and we took a route that took us around DC and Baltimore. I also put Liam’s sound machine next to his seat and he slept great. We realized going to Hershey, PA only added 20 minutes to our route so we spontaneously alerted route and headed there for a quick stop.
It ended up being the perfect break in our drive. We didn’t do the huge theme park but just the factory and free tour. Connor loved it! It was a great break out of the car for Liam and bonus we all got to eat chocolate!
The rest of the trip was nice with Liam napping again and Connor was good. Once Connor even told us he had to pee and he got to pee in the side of the road for his first time. Haha. I was also really excited to see an Amish buggy in Pennsylvania.
