I finally made it down to the Dragon boat races! First year I was pregnant and the other years I was too intimidated to going with Connor alone but finally this year I knew it was my last chance so we just went! It is one of the biggest festivals in Okinawa on Children's Day, one of the biggest holidays of the year in Japan! I was feeling a little anxious to go but it ended up being just fine. We went in the morning before it was too crazy.
Watching the races.
They give out free fans at a lot of the festivals and Connor thought they were pretty cool.
We walked by the mini go carts and Connor nearly leapt out of the stroller! It was cool because for the little kids they used a remote controller to make them go. We had to wait for another kid to use the controller first so some of the other kids got to go while he waited. Connor had a toddler breakdown and then by the time it was his turn he was too upset to enjoy it. At least the people running the booth were really nice and gave me my money back.
Some shots of the festival. I think it is fun to see their festival foods.
The bouncy house was a success as always! Connor loves them so much!! We have already decided that for our going away party we will rent one.
A lot of the booths have little water games! This one looked like a good one for Connor. He got to pick out a ducky and then the number corresponded with a type of toy he got to pick from! I think he did pretty good and got a rolling giraffe that he insisted on dragging behind the stroller the rest of the time. It was pretty cute!
For Children's Day (Kodomo no hi) they hang carp flags or Koinobori all over the island! It is a day set aside to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. So when Logan got home from work we went to get some pictures with our little kid.

We were not very successful at really getting any good pictures of Connor but hey, we tried.
Afterwards we went up to the mall and got dinner. Did a little shopping and let Connor play at some of the free kid places. His favorite part was seeing the fish of course.
