Christmas Cheer

Saturday, December 17, 2016
As my friend Buddy the Elf says "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear".
Saturday I went with a group from my ward to sing at a community center for the elderly. It was a great experience! We were one of the acts for their end of year celebration. This was the first time they had Americans come and sing Christmas Carols.

Another fun fact is that Okinawa has the highest concentration of centennials in the world! We were told that the people aged from 70 to over a hundred but most were from 90-105! And look they still all have their hair and many are still dark colored! (There were a lot more people there then it looks in this picture)
They were really nice and made us each our own fancy bento box for lunch! It was only room temp but still really good!
Some of the other performances included traditional Sanshin players, a group of 100 year olds karaoke-ing and a group of kid Taiko drum performers. I liked the super old ladies who got up to sing!
Then they took a break for a present raffle. The old people were so excited when they won! Lastly they did what we were told was the free dance part. Literally everyone got up (or sat) and danced or clapped! It was so silly and fun! I pan over our group and then the audience.
We took a picture of the MC for the event. I thought the stage curtain was really cool!
