Here are some fun facts about Connor! Now at two months old, Connor weighs about 10 pounds, is 21 inches long and his head circumference is 15 inches. That puts him the the 5-10 percentile, so even though he is growing like crazy he is still pretty small. He still fits the newborn onesies but is starting to fit the 0-3 month clothes a little better.
Last night he slept through the night for the first time (8 hours)! Sleep really makes him a happy boy. His favorite place to sleep by far is in your arms but the next best place is in our bed so thats where we take our afternoon naps. He takes 3 naps from1-3 hours during the day.
We are getting really good at putting him to sleep. We hold his head in the crook of our left arm with his feet diagonally across to the other side and then bounce him. This works best when we are sitting at an angle. Other sleeping cues we have taught him are putting a blanket over his head, just down to his eyes and shushing. They really work every time! Whenever I have him sleep upstairs, I try getting him to fall asleep in his bassinet or the bed on his own. That is a very important thing for him to learn and I know he is capable of it already but it doesn't always work.
Now that he has been feeling better because of his medicine and sleeping better, he wakes up a lot happier too! He only cries when he his hungry, in his car seat or getting to the end of his sleep cycle. Changing his diaper is a lot better and although he doesn't love his clothes being changed he tolerates it. Sometimes I put him on his changing table and he smiles the whole time. I think he likes being able to stretch out.
No swings or bouncers needed for this guy, his favorite place by far is the floor next to his mom or dad. After eating and burping, he gets floor and tummy time. He kicks and smiles and coos and just has a good 'ol time! On his tummy he is getting good at pulling his legs under him and pushing his head up. It will be a long time before he crawls but he is still able to move around pretty good. He is also getting a lot better with his hands. I still put the gloves on him when he goes to sleep so he doesn't scratch himself and wake up but the rest of the day he gets them.
We have started a night routine. When he wakes up from his evening nap he gets his medicine and then I feed him. After he is burped, we keep him up and let him play on the floor and thats also when we give him his baths. Once he gets to the end of his wake cycle, we put him in his PJs and a swaddle, suck his nose, give him his gas drops and I feed him one more time to really top him off so he'll sleep longer before putting him to sleep.
And of course he still sleeps funny! Instead of getting his "bad dreams" he has started smiling as he falls asleep and sometimes he even giggles! Also something to note is that he does really well with us sucking the snot out of his nose and he usually has a ton. Weird kid. Most of the time he just sits there with a funny face on. I think that he thinks we are putting it in the wrong place. To him everything that comes close to his face should be in his mouth.
Speaking of that sweet little mouth Connor has also started drooling all the time. He spits up a lot so we are used to having a burp cloth always under him but this makes us have to even more. I thought that wasn't supposed to start for a few more months!
The only thing I got on black friday was some new photoshop actions that were on sale from a blog called Paint the Moon. Then of course I needed some new pictures to work with! So here are some pics from a little photo shoot I did and then edited.
I love this one because you can really see the true color of his eyes and hair (they are kinda hard to capture).
Love his smile! I was also playing around with the new photoshop actions (color).
This one cracks me up!
He has really good head control now but we are still working on sitting up.
So handsom!
