Dixon Family Reunion, Part 2

Tuesday, July 9, 2013
The night of Michelle and Clark's reception, we were invited to go boating the next day! I don't think I have been on a boat in like 10 years but I knew that Logan would love to go and I had just gotten a cute new swimsuit.

Tricia, Scott, Logan and me ended up going with the Skeens (good family friends) out to Lake Sammamish. It was not very warm out side so I doubted that I would even get in. Not to mention that I had never been wake boarding before so I highly doubted that I would even be able to do it.
Logan was the first on to get out on the board. On the first try he was up! He made it look so easy and he was way cool holding the rope one handed.
It had been about 7 years since he last went but Logan is usually good at everything so this didn't surprise me that he could still do this. He still wiped out a few times on his big jumps but I got some great shots.
After him, Scott tried and it took him several times to get up. That's when I decided that it probably really was as hard as I thought. Scott was able to get up and had some good runs. Tricia said that it took her years when she was younger to just get up but she ended up doing a great job too.

Then it was my turn. I honestly didn't want to or even plan on trying but I was feeling a little sick from the boat and thought I might as well try. I literally was shaking before I even got in the water I was so nervous . Surprisingly the water was actually really warm.

The worst part was that I got flipped up-side-down as I was trying to get into place so my board was behind me instead of in front. It was so embarrassing! I hadn't even tried to get up yet and I was already stuck. It took me several minutes just to figure out how to flip the board back in front of me (it was really hard to turn it in the water and was really heavy). The other problem was that my life vest was way too big so when I was in the water it choked me the whole time.
Anyway, so once I eventually got the board back over, it was actually time to start to try and get up on the wake board. Here are some of my fantastic wipe-outs!
About five wipe-outs later I actually stood up for a while!
After that, I had about two or three good runs before I was so tired I couldn't hold on to the rope any more. Everyone was very proud of me considering this was my first time and apparently it is harder to start as an adult I was told. I was pretty proud too.
Also while we were boating a beautiful bald eagle flew right over us.
The rest of the day part of the family went on a hike and the rest of us played in a homemade water slide in the back yard.

Sunday, before Logan flew back home, we got to see Tyler's (Dana and Guillaume's) baby blessing. This was the first baby blessing Logan got to be part of so it was very special. After Sacrament Meeting, we took a few family pictures before I went with Logan to the airport.
It was this morning that my ear started to feel clogged. By the afternoon when we were back at the Dixon house it started to hurt so bad I knew that I either needed to get some medicine or go to the emergency room. Sue was sweet enough to take me to Rite-Aid to get some drops to help. It turned out to be swimmer's ear.

The drops and medicine did help but for the last two days I was in Washington, I pretty much hurt so bad that I didn't do much other then sit on the couch and nap. It was a sad way to end the trip. I was lucky enough that the flight back to NM didn't hurt too bad. It wasn't until about a  week and a half later did my ear go back to normal but for those few minutes I got up on the wake board, it was so worth it!

Go Anna! Seriously, it took me multiple summers to just get up--I was impressed!
